Sean Barger

With over 25 years of management, engineering and production experience in the software industry, Mr. Barger is the visionary behind Equilibrium’s next-generation Automated Media Processing Solutions (AMPS) including  MediaRich, ECM for SharePoint and EQ Enterprise product lines for the  enterprise content markets. Mr. Barger has driven Equilibrium’s recruitment of Google, Saturday Night Live and OpenTV to the advisory board and has designed EQ Network, the end-point for a complete end-to-end video publishing system for powering next generation advertising and media delivery models for managing and delivering enterprise video and other content. Prior to founding Equilibrium, Barger was responsible for the turnaround of a $120m Pan-European software distribution company and was the prior CEO of Equilibrium Technologies, Inc, the original publishers of DeBabelizer Pro which reached over 500,000 users and had a distribution network in 38 countries.

Christopher Duke

Vice President Product Management and Marketing

With nearly 20 years of experience in the marketing and management of creative software and services, Duke is an expert who brings a successful track record in creating innovative solutions to the problems faced by both large companies and individuals. Starting in the 1990s, he worked on must-have multimedia products like DeBabelizer, Macromedias Director and Flash, and Internet video-compression tool Media Cleaner Pro (later Autodesk Cleaner). He later joined Apple, where he remained for 10 years, heading up its Final Cut efforts for Europe and helping it become the leading NLE. His role expanded to manage all of Apples apps on both OS X and iOS, he was instrumental in launching many of Apples products, including, Final Cut Pro, Aperture, OS X, iOS versions of iLife and iWork, iPad, and iPhone.

Matt Butler

Vice President of Engineering

[toggle title=”Read Bio”]Matthew brings over 20 years of software engineering, architecture and team leadership experience to his role as Vice President of Engineering.  Starting with the 1.0 version of MediaRich Server Matthew has contributed to all of Equilibrium’s major product lines.  On MediaRich Server as a Senior Software Engineer he wrote large components of the server itself and it’s supporting infrastructure.  In the early 2000s, he was a key player on the small team which envisioned and implemented the ground-breaking MediaRich ECM for SharePoint product, eventually becoming Lead Engineer for the effort.  In addition Matthew has also worked on integration projects with many of Equilibrium’s largest customers and partners such as Microsoft and Cisco.  In the web’s earliest days, Matthew worked on client and server software for a variety of companies spinning the World Wide Web and in more recent times consulted on projects bringing internet and web related technologies to novel and innovative platforms such as digital signage.

Brian Rice

Chief Technical Officer

Brian serves as Chief Technical Officer for Equilibrium and is responsible for all EQN Video Network Design & Development. He has been leading teams of IT professionals for 30 years since founding a video game development company in 1980. He has shown leadership skills in a variety of industries, from his early work as a pioneer in the emerging era of video game software development to his last role managing the software development and trading operations of Superfund Strategies, Inc. As such, Brian has demonstrated skills that range from bringing new products to market to planning the development and evolution of internal software systems within an organization.

Brian is especially proud of his interpersonal skills in understanding the needs of, and creating consensus among, technical and non-technical project stakeholders.

Brian also served on the Board of Directors at Superfund Strategies, Inc.

Advisory Board

Mark Evans – Head of Marketplace Intelligence, Google

Mr. Evans has over 30 years experience in advertising, marketing strategy, business development and advertising sales. For twelve years he was in various Director Positions in the Internet business running Programs, Operations, Planning, Business Development and National Ad sales for companies such as Netscape and eBay. He was initially hired by Google in 2007 to direct the planning and acquisition of Premium Display advertising. Currently, as Google’s head of Marketplace Intelligence, Mr. Evans is responsible for business relationships with key strategic media partners as they pertain to Google’s entry into the display market. As such, he is active on multiple cross-functional strategic planning groups for Google display initiatives overall.

Stacey Foster – Coordinating Producer, Saturday Night Live

Mr. Foster has over 30 years experience with every aspect of television production. He has been with Saturday Night Live since 1985 and Coordinating Producer since 1999. He has overseen all technical aspects of the Emmy-Award winning comedy show’s production, including the show’s transition to HD a few years ago. He is also currently serving as Consulting Producer on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Among his many other credits are The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Kids in the Hall, Late Night with David Letterman, the live Survivor finales, and two Paul Simon concerts for HBO – Graceland: The African Concert and Rhythm of the Saints. Mr. Foster began his career in 1976, starting his own production company PanAVid, which is still operating today.

Colin Crawford – Chief Executive Officer and Founder, Media7

Mr. Crawford is a seasoned executive leader and accomplished entrepreneur with a track record of management success over 20 years in diverse international media businesses, including print, online and mobile properties. Currently, he is CEO and Founder of Media7, a consultancy and strategic advisory company focusing on mobile media. He is also a Venture Affiliate at IDG Ventures San Francisco, a Senior Fellow and Advisory Board member of the Society for New Communications Research and an advisor to a number of early and mid-stage companies. Previously, Mr. Crawford held a series of senior executive leadership roles at IDG (International Data Group), and served on the IDG senior management team and the operations review boards of all the IDG brands. Mr. Crawford has extensive International experience, working with IDG business units in Europe and Asia.

Ben Bennett – ir.deto Senior Vice President, Services

Prior to joining Irdeto, Ben worked extensively in the digital TV, interactive media/entertainment and mobile telecoms sectors in a number of countries worldwide, most recently in a consultative role as Advisor to the Board of Equilibrium. He joined Equilibrium from OpenTV where he was CEO and led the company to its first year of profitability before taking OpenTV private (from NASDAQ) by merging with its parent company. Before becoming CEO, Ben also held the roles of Managing Director of OpenTV’s European operations and Senior Vice President of World Wide Professional Services and Consulting where he was responsible for sales and customer deployments in over 30 countries worldwide. Prior to his time at OpenTV, Ben held management positions at Spyglass, Logica and British Telecom. Ben holds an Honors Degree in Engineering Science and Technology from Loughborough University of Technology in England and currently resides in San Francisco, USA.
